Highland 2 A better way to write.

Highland on the Mac

More Power. Less Distraction.

We’ve taken the tools we built for writing screenplays and made them work for almost every kind of document you write. From novels to blog posts and school reports, Highland’s clean design and innovative tools help you focus on words, not formatting.

Highland is just a cleaner, purer way to be creative. My mind is calmer and less cluttered when i use it because I can write prose so easily and jump to dialogue when that’s more intuitive.

I didn’t realize how much I hated Final Draft until I used Highland 2. Thanks, now I have $250 digital paperweight.

Images, Links, Notes and Includes

Highland 2 adds new inline elements for your documents.

Inline Elements

Add images from your hard drive or the web. Simply drag and drop the image into the Editor window and it will be automatically inserted into the document in proper Markdown format.

Add an inline link by simply wrapping the text in brackets and the URL in parentheses.

Alternatively, you can use Reference links to keep the messy URL out of the body of your text.

Notes [[you'll actually use]]

Highland’s notes live inside double brackets [[  ]] inline with your text.

You'll never miss a reminder or lose an idea hidden behind a tiny icon.

If you prefer to break up projects and only combine them when you're done, we’ve added a new way to do that in Highland.

To include a text file in your current document, just drag it in.
